Who they are:
Firewall Engineers are the hands-on implementers—the ones who take approved connections and make them real on the network. Like Enterprise Read-Only users, they can view any Enclave and review connection details, but they also have a critical job to do: turning approved requests into operational connections.
What they do:
Once a connection is approved, Firewall Engineers receive a unique change request link. That link leads to a dedicated page with:
-
All necessary connection configuration information
-
Contact details for both the Submitter and the Approver
-
A clear, actionable summary of what needs to be implemented on the network
After reviewing the details, they carry out the changes in the live environment. Once complete, they mark the request as implemented, signaling the job is done. This action also unlocks the application for the Submitter, allowing further updates or changes as needed.
The ideal fit:
This role is best suited for Firewall Engineers, Network Implementation Specialists, or any role tasked with translating approved network designs into deployed infrastructure.
The Persona:
We refer to them as Finn Walker the Firewall Engineer—methodical, detail-oriented, and always the one to ensure that every approved connection is securely and accurately deployed.
